Paola (Andy) Lopez, PhD
Paola (Andy) Lopez is a researcher working in the labs of Dr. Edlow and Dr. Doug Lauffenburger at MIT. Andy earned her undergraduate degrees in Applied Mathematics and Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2016. Following her graduation, Andy moved to the Bay Area where she earned her PhD in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley where she used both RNA sequencing and functional genomic screens to understand the mechanosensation of adult hippocampal neural stem cells. Wishing to enhance her computational biology skillset, she then headed off to MIT to do her post-doctoral research in Dr. Doug Lauffenburger’s group where she collaborated with Dr. Edlow in using systems biology approaches to examine the effects of COVID-19 vaccine in pregnant individuals. Outside of lab, Andy likes to ski, run, rock climb, and hang out with her dog, Yoda.
