Ruben Fernandez-Ibanez, MD
Ruben Fernandez-Ibanez is originally from Leon, Spain, and earned his medical degree from the Universidad de Alcala in Madrid in 2025, where he is also a PhD candidate in Medicine, focusing on clinical data analysis, and will defend his thesis in late 2027. During medical school, he trained as an officer in the Spanish Armed Forces' Health Corps. His clinical and research interests center on OB/GYN and reproductive health, spanning reproductive science, women's health, and infectious diseases, and he is trained in biostatistics. He has completed clinical clerkships in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Stanford and Johns Hopkins and contributed to research at the Hospital Ramon y Cajal in Madrid and at Johns Hopkins' Division of Reproductive Science and Women's Health Research.
Ruben joins the Edlow Lab as a postdoctoral research fellow. Long term, he hopes to pursue an OB/GYN residency and build a career as a physician-scientist. Outside of work, he loves traveling, sports of all kinds, mountaineering, and reading.
